Prim minister Bakhtiar Inaugural Speech in the Parliament
Prim minister Bakhtiar was accompanied by MH Novin in his inaugural speech to the parliament, promising to form a responsible government. His government short term program presented to Majles included the following provisions that were always advocated by MH Novin. (i) to close down the secret police SAVAK, and substituting it with a law abiding intelligent service. (ii) persecuting the corrupt officials, by either implementing the exiting judiciary arrangements or by establishing special national courts. (iii) appointment of a special commission to investigate the crimes committed by SAVAK. (iv) freeing of all political prisoners (he informed the Majles that on the very same day sixty eight political prisoners who were sentenced to life were released). (v) rehabilitating all the former political dissidents since the coup d'eta of 1953 and revoking their sentences (vi) introducing financial compensation to political prisoners and to those who had became disabled because of torture (vii) paying financial compensation to the children of those who had lost their life in the so called security prisons (viii) gradual elimination of the martial law, declaring the recently killed demonstrators as martyrs, and paying financial compensations to their families through legislation . ...
